The Super Bowl is this Sunday and if you don't already have plans there are a few bars in Falls Church that are throwing little shindigs. Here's all you need to know about watching the Big Game in the Little City. (check back for updates as more info is compiled)
400 S Maple Ave, Falls Church, VA 22046 - (703) 226-3460
This great pizza place is having their happy hour specials during the game (til 9pm) which includes some really amazing deals including this one. They have $1 Natty Boh, $3 Yuengling, $6.50 20oz local drafts, and $5 wine. (more on Happy Hour)
But the food special is where it is at. Pizzeria Orso has the best take out (or dine in) pizza deal in the city. From 3pm-7pm all pizza's are buy one get one free (of equal or lesser value) with a limit of using the deal 4 times (for 8 pizzas for the price of 4). The special is going to be very popular so they are offering VIP pizza pickup parking out front. Make sure you get in early as they could possibly run out of pizza.
The restaurant is also offering this same special for dine in too and has a flat screen at the bar and one in the dining room as well. They are bringing in a projector and Chef Will is giving a prize to the couple with the best sports themed outfits.
130 N Washington St, Falls Church, VA 22046 - (703) 532-9283
Clare & Don's is having a Super Bowl Chili Cook-off featuring Chili cooked by different members of the Clare & Don's staff. Patrons at the bar will be offered free tastings and will judge the winner.
They are also running a betting game (with fake money) throughout the game featuring a variety of different bets. The person with the most fake money will win a prize.
This spot only has 1 or 2 small TVs I think, so hopefully they are bringing in a projector or something.
Ireland's Four Provinces
105 W Broad St, Falls Church, VA 22046 - (703) 534-8999
Ireland's 4 P's is having a Super Bowl party with a chili theme with a special White Bean Dip and Amy's Chili on the menu for $5. They are also doing 50 cent wings as well. They are doing 3 other specials on steak, chicken fajitas, and hot dogs.
Their beer special is $3 for Miller Lite cans and Bud Light Drafts.
They are also running a squares game (google it).
220 N Washington St, Falls Church, VA 22046 - (703) 237-0300
The State Theater is opening it's doors for the Super Bowl with free entry and the game being broadcast on a giant screen. They are offering FREE FOOD while supplies last and unlisted drink specials. Doors open at 5:30pm. I actually watched the epic Redskins win over the Cowboys several years back here and it was a really good place to watch the game. The screen is huge.
Mad Fox Brewing Company
444 W Broad St, Falls Church, VA 22046 - (703) 942-6840
Mad Fox is also having a Super Bowl pizza special. They have Happy Hour 7 days a week, which is $2 off select drafts, and it will be the same during the Super Bowl (til 9pm). I recommend getting a Kellerbier Kolsch or 5.
Also, all day on Super Bowl Sunday you get their pizza for half price for carry out. The deal works for any size or style pizza, but there is a max of 2 pizzas. They also said to mention the email newsletter to take advantage of the special. This is a take out only special, so not good for those watching the game at Mad Fox, just from home.
132 W Broad St, Falls Church, VA 22046 - (703) 237-8333
Dogwood hasn't mentioned any particular specials, but unlike the rest of the bars in the area this place has the most TVs and is the most like a sports bar. They have half price burgers on Sunday night's after 7pm and the waitress said they will have "pitcher specials", I guess that is TBD.
1216 W Broad St, Falls Church, VA 22046 - (703) 237-0977
Pie-Tanza is also going the carryout pizza route although not BOGO like Mad Fox & Orso. They are doing buy one pie get the second for $5 and also offering $25 off orders over $100.
Red Hot & Blue
169 Hillwood Ave, Falls Church, VA 22046 - (703) 538-6466
The BBQ place is doing a carryout special as well for their wings. If you get 50 wings or their tailgate package (pulled pork/pulled chicken/sides - $30) you get a free bottle of sauce. Um. Ok.
That's not many choices, although the Super Bowl is typically more fun to watch at somebody's house rather than a bar. I contacted all the other places in the area with no response. If you know anything else that is going on send us an email.
