Exploring Happy Hour: Pizzeria Orso

There are not many places where you find a happy hour with specials on ALL tiers of beer. And there is only one place in Falls Church where you can get a beer for just one dollar. That would be at Pizzeria Orso, and my goodness do they have a great happy hour.

The restaurant has a surprisingly large bar area and the bartenders were both informative, fast, and nice. The service is what you would expect from a higher end restaurant and they treat you like a high end customer. Everyone there is friendly, even the executive chef Will Artley took the time to come over and say hello.

The quality of the restaurant was top notch, and I was shocked to see that so was the Happy Hour (Tuesday-Friday, 4pm-7pm, Closed on Mondays). I think these specials are not "bar area only" like most places too, which is really cool.

The high end craft beer (local/regional) was $6.50 for a 20oz draft. My three choices were all from Virginia; Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager, Blue Mountain Kolsch 151, and Lost Rhino Faceplant. That's not a super low price, but if you are worried about that they have you covered.

For the more domestic beer drinkers, Yuengling was on special for $3. And for the bottom of the barrel, Natty Boh's were $1. That's right. just ONE DOLLAR. This is the only place in Falls Church where you can drink for that cheap at Happy Hour.

Along with 4 local craft beers on draft the place has over 25 different bottles (not on special) to choose from with lots of different delicious craft beers. A great beer selection and a bunch of different wines as well.

If you are a wine drinker you can opt for their $5 red or white house wine during Happy Hour. There is no liquor.

They also had a few food items on special as well. Calamari, Arancini, and Oven Roasted Olives were $4, and their Margherita Pizza was $8 ($5 off).

The other great special I noticed as I walked in the door was that everyday before 3pm (except Mondays/closed) you can get a 2 topping pizza with a fountain drink for just $8. That is quite a lunch special considering how good the pizza is.

Daily dine-in specials include kids under 10 eating free on Tuesdays, half price wine Wednesdays (4pm-9pm), and buy one pizza get one half off on Thursdays.

Happy Hour isn't the only thing I partook in. I also was dying to try the pizza and ordered one of their 13 different custom pizzas, the Fun Guy (wild mushroom, mozzarella, fontina, parmesan). It was $15 for a pretty small one person pizza, but boy was it delicious. You can read more about their menu or see the menu at their website.

Oh I almost forgot. I tried 2 great appetizers as well, each under $10. The popular brussel chips, and the pork belly, both very good.

Overall I loved this place and will be going back again...and again. They even have outdoor seating which looks like it would be really great in the summer. Great food, great specials, and great service. One of the top places in the Little City.
